Bay Harbor Islands began as two mangrove islands in Biscayne Bay. Shepard Broad, an immigrant from Pinsk, bought them, filled them with his own money and down payments from lot sales, and incorporated the town on April 28, 1947, together with businessman Benjamin N. Kane. Today about 5,900 people live on roughly 0.4 square miles, with the Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center at the heart of the town.
The two islands are very different. The West Island is single-family homes, where the dryer usually vents a short way through an outside wall, which is our $89 basic cleaning. The East Island holds the business district and the apartment and condo buildings, including what was once one of the largest collections of mid-century Miami Modern (MiMo) architecture. In those buildings, vents can take longer routes or exit on the roof, and we price those before we start.

A standard vent is $89. East Island condo, long run or roof vent? You get the price first.
A rotary brush loosens lint from the dryer side and from the outside exit.
Loosened lint is pulled out with a vacuum, then we clean the lint trap.
We run the dryer and check the airflow and flap at the outside vent.
