Bal Harbour
Bal Harbour was planned from the start. A Detroit group led by developer Robert C. Graham owned the land from the bay to the ocean, brought in planners Harland Bartholomew & Associates, and incorporated the village on August 14, 1946. The name joins the b of bay with the al of Atlantic. It was the first planned community in Florida to put its utilities underground, and today about 3,100 people live in a village of well under a square mile, home to Bal Harbour Shops since 1965.
Only about one in ten Bal Harbour properties is a single-family home. Most people live in the condo towers along Collins Avenue, where a vent can run a long way through the building or connect to building-managed exhaust, so we check your setup and price anything beyond the basic cleaning before we start. In the homes of the gated residential section, the dryer usually vents a short way through an outside wall, which is our $89 basic cleaning.
In custom laundry rooms, the dryer is often boxed in by cabinetry. When it gets slid back into place, the hose behind it can slip off or get crushed, and lint and humid air go into the cabinet instead of outside. A fine layer of lint on nearby shelves, or a laundry room that feels damp, is the giveaway. We pull the dryer out, check the connection, clean the vent from both ends and set the dryer back in place.

How it works
We look inside the vent and show you what's there: lint, blockages or damage.
A standard vent is $89. Condo tower, built-in dryer or roof vent? You get the price first.
A rotary brush loosens lint from the dryer side and from the outside exit.
Loosened lint is pulled out with a vacuum, then we clean the lint trap.
We run the dryer and check the airflow and flap at the outside vent.
